The Calm Within programme is a practical support programme for parents and caregivers. We take it slowly, one session at a time — understanding what's happening beneath the overwhelm and finding a realistic way forward.
Each session builds gently on the last. You don't have to master anything — just show up and let it unfold.
We start by simply looking at what you're carrying. Sometimes when we're overwhelmed, we focus on the last straw and miss everything sitting underneath it.
You'll explore: what is filling your emotional tank, and what is taking the most out of you.
Practical exercise: the Stress Barrel — draw your barrel and write down what's taking up space.
What can you do when you feel yourself reaching your limit? We look at your early warning signs and simple ways to create a pause before you react.
You'll explore: how you notice stress building, and small tools to open up a little space.
Practical exercise: choose one small “drain valve” — one small action to open up a little room this week.
How can you take responsibility without constantly blaming yourself? Guilt can sit quietly underneath so much of what we do. We look at where it shows up and how to be honest without attacking yourself.
You'll explore: where your guilt is coming from, and a kinder way to talk to yourself.
Practical exercise: write a kinder message to use on a difficult day.
What are you carrying that you don't need to carry alone? We look at where your boundaries need to shift and how to protect your energy without feeling guilty about it.
You'll explore: where you're giving too much, and how to say no in a way that feels okay.
Practical exercise: identify one boundary you can practise setting this week.
What might be happening underneath the behaviour? We look at your child's behaviour with curiosity rather than assuming we already know why they're doing something.
You'll explore: what might be driving the behaviour, and how a different lens can change your response.
Practical exercise: a “behind the behaviour” reflection on one situation.
What happened to the parts of you that used to make you feel like you? We look at the things that used to fill you up and how you can begin to reconnect with them.
You'll explore: what you've lost touch with, and what would feel good again.
Practical exercise: one small reconnection action you can actually take.
What can actually fit into your real life? Calm doesn't have to mean big changes. We look for small, realistic moments that fit into your day as it really is.
You'll explore: what small moments of calm are actually possible for you.
Practical exercise: build one realistic calm habit into your week.
What do you want to take with you from here? We pull everything together into a practical way forward that works for your life.
You'll explore: what's changed, what you've learned, and what you want to keep doing.
Practical exercise: a simple Way Forward Plan to guide you after the programme.
